                  Dr. Vallop Suwandee, Chairman of Advisers to Governor of Bangkok, represents Governor of Bangkok to attend Mayor’s Roundtable and Chicago Forum on Global Cities held on 6th – 8th June 2018 in Chicago, United States of America

                   Mayor’s Roundtable on 6th June 2018 at Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Chicago is the exclusive roundtable meeting between city leaders and representatives, for example, Mayor of Warsaw (Poland), Mayor of Zurich (Switzerland), Mayors of Hamburg (Germany), Mayor of Tijuana (Mexico), etc. This meeting presides by Mr. Rahm Emanuel, Mayor of Chicago together with Mr. Ivo Daalder, President of Chicago Council on Global Affairs. This year Mayor’s Roundtable focuses the key issues that shape the cities’ inclusive growth. In this occasion, Dr. Vallop Suwandee informs that Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has promoted inclusive growth in Bangkok area in many aspects, for instance, educational support cooperated with Thai government provides on the job training program to students of the schools under the BMA. Moreover, we provide foreign language lessons to medical staff of the BMA’s hospitals in term of facilitating foreign labors and migrants in Bangkok. There is also the free-tuition fee policy for foreign and migrant children who study in the public elementary schools.    

                   The Chicago Forum on Global Cities 2018 during 7th – 8th June 2018 at Revel Fulton Market, Chicago is the international forum discussing on roles of cities around the world, as well as searching solutions of current global challenges. Participants have great opportunity to network with one another and to develop appropriate solutions for their own cities. The Forum is under cooperation between Chicago Council on Global Affairs and Financial Times. It emphasizes improvement of metropolitan governance that should specify various strategies of public service such as urban transport models, city planning, integrated policies not only impacts of climate change but also citizen demand, transportation and safety, etc. so that city can implement those actions to serve oneself properly for its economy growth. Last but not least, there are other issues that cities have to pay attention like public wealth, economic powerhouses, green financing, efficient use of resources, and protection against threats that continually changing.
