                   On 6 August 2018, Mr. Qu Qian, Vice Mayor of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, People's Republic of China, led a delegation of 6 people to pay a courtesy call on Pol. Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, at Reception Room 3, Thani Nopparat Building, Bangkok City Hall 2, on occasion of visiting Bangkok and strengthening the sister city relationship between Bangkok and Chongqing.

                   The Governor of Bangkok welcomed the delegation and praised the long-term relations between Thailand and China and the sister city relations between Bangkok and Chongqing which have been lasted for 7 years.  Previously, Bangkok and Chongqing have fostered their relationship  through student exchange programs, study visits and visits of officials from two cities.  In 2016 and 2017, Bangkok delegation had a study visit on waste management at Chengdu, since Bangkok has a future plan for the construction of waste incineration plants in Bangkok area using know-how from Chongqing Sanfeng Environment Industry Group.
                   Mr. Qu Qian extended his appreciation to the Governor of Bangkok for a warm welcome and showed a strong intention to strengthen cities relations and to seek future cooperation especially in expanding business cooperation, logistics system development cooperation and inviting Governor of Bangkok and representatives to attend to the Smart China Expo which will be held on 23 August 2018 at Chongqing.  
                   In this occasion, Governor of Bangkok asked for Chongqing’s cooperation to publicize tourism in Thailand and hope for the future cooperation in aspect of student exchanges. Chongqing’s Vice Mayor expressed the confidence in Thailand's policy on safety tourism and believed that the number of Chinese tourists visiting Thailand will be increasing.  Furthermore, Chongqing is pleased to collaborate with the BMA on student exchanges and to provide the scholarships for Thai students so that they can bring back the knowledge and innovation to develop the country.
