On 25 October 2018 at 10.30 a.m., Mr. Desmond Choo, Assistant Secretary-General of National Trade Union Congress (NTUC) and Mayor of North East District of Republic of Singapore, paid a courtesy call on Pol. Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, the Governor of Bangkok, in occasion of visiting Thailand.  In this regard, Director of International Affairs Office jointly welcomed at Amarin Room, 2nd Floor of Bangkok City Hall.

The Assistant Secretary-General of National Trade Union Congress expressed his appreciation to be honored and thanked the Governor of Bangkok for allocating time for a warm welcome.  He admirably mentioned that there were many green areas in Thailand.  Although Singapore has a lot of trees but they are also facing problems on tree maintenance because of climate change in the past ten years.  Planted trees could not survive in the ever-changing environment and rainfall amount.  The Governor of Bangkok mentioned about Singapore Botanic Gardens which is World Cultural Heritage and Singapore currently was trying to nominate street hawkers in all five districts to be World Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.  Before leaving, Director of International Affairs Office also invited Mr. Desmond Choo to participate in the 7th Meeting of Governors/Mayors of ASEAN Capital in Bangkok around June 2019.
