Almaty Mayor and Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Thailand paid a courtesy call on Deputy Governor of Bangkok

On 14 March 2019 at 10.00 a.m., H.E. Mr. Amandyk Batalov, Governor of Almaty Region, together with H.E. Mrs. Raushan Yesbulatova, Ambassdor of Republic of Kazakhstan to Thailand, and delegation paid a courtesy call on Mr. Kriangyos Sudlabha, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, on the occasion of visiting Bangkok. In this regard, Chairman of Advisors to Governor of Bangkok (Mr. Vallop Suwandee), Deputy Permanent Secretary of BMA (Mr. Khachit Chatchawanit), Assistant Secretary to Governor of Bangkok (Mr. Somsak Chatsuksiridet), Director of International Affairs Office, and BMA Officials jointly welcomed at Reception Room 3, 31st floor, Thani Nopparat Building, Bangkok City Hall 2, Din Daeng District.

Governor of Almaty Region expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended by the Deputy Governor of Bangkok to his delegation.  Almaty Region is an economic potential region for agriculture and industry located in the south-eastern part of the Republic of Kazakhstan.  The region borders Kyrgyzstan and Xinjiang in the People's Republic of China and it is the gate of trading in the Eurasia region.  For this visit, the delegation would like to learn and exchange knowledge of Thai economy growth, especially in the field of tourism, and proposed to have an exchange and cooperation in field of culture and sports, especially Thai boxing because there are many well-known sportsmen in both cities.

Deputy Governor of Bangkok mentioned that Thailand must promote Kazakhstan tourism to Thai people to travel more.  However, Thai citizens still have to apply for visa to enter Kazakhstan. If both countries have visa exemption arrangement, the number of Thai tourists must be increased.  Ambassador of Kazakhstan stated that the Kazakh Government signed the agreement on visa exemption between Kazakhstan and Thailand two years ago and now waits for the consideration of Thai Government on this matter.  Deputy Governor of Bangkok mentioned that this is the good opportunity for the two cities to deepen the closer ties and is pleased to work with Almaty Region in the future.
