Mayor of Daegu City, Republic of Korea and Delegation Paid A Courtesy Call on Governor of Bangkok

           On 23 May 2019 at 10.00 a.m., Mr. Kwon Youngjin, Mayor of Daegu,the Republic of Korea and delegation paid a courtesy call on Pol. Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok on the occasion of visiting Bangkok and discussed promotion upon bilateral tourism cooperation and industry.  In this regard, Chairman of Advisors to Governor of Bangkok (Mr. Vallop Suwandee), Deputy Governor of Bangkok (Mr. Kriangyos Sudlabha), Advisors to Governor of Bangkok (Mr. Tamarat Wanglee, Mr. Attaseth Petmeesri, and Pol. Lt. Gen. Sopon Pisuttiwong), Assistant Secretary to Governor of Bangkok (Mr. Somsak Chatsuksiridet), BMA Inspector General (Mrs. Parnrudee Manomaipiboon), Director of International Affairs Office, and BMA’s officials jointly welcomed at Amornphimarn Room, Bangkok City Hall (Sao Chingcha).  

           Governor of Bangkok welcomed Mayor of Daegu and delegation and mentioned that Thailand and the Republic of Korea have maintained good relations for a long time, and lots of Thai and Korean tourists traveling to each other each year. This not only allows them to have respective experiences and progress, but it will also promote tourism of various dimensions as strengthening the cordial ties between the two cities.

          Mayor of Daegu said that he had an opportunity to visit Bangkok in 2017 to sign the Agreement on Establishment of Friendly Relations, considered the beginning of official ties. After that there have been continuous exchanges in such various fields as economy, culture, tourism and personnel, and the delegation accompanying him intended to have discussion and promotion upon tourism. He continued that Daegu is a city with a full of beautiful nature such as mountains, rivers, sea as well as 4 distinct seasons; winter, summer, spring, and autumn. Moreover, Daegu currently has the direct flight between Bangkok and Daegu by T'Way Air which takes about 5 hours and 30 minutes. Last year, around 1 million Korean tourists visited Thailand, so it is a good idea if the Group Inclusive Tour will be promoted. He and the delegation will also attend the Sister Cities Week 2019 to be held in Bangkok on 27 June – 1 July 2019.
