Bangkok attended the12th Astana Economic Forum

Dr. Vallop Suwandee, Chairman of Advisers to the Governor of Bangkok and Mr. Seerawsankhan Pathan, Director-General of Strategy and Evaluation Department led a delegation to attend the12th Astana Economic Forum under the theme “Inspiring Growth: People, Cities, and Economies” between 15-19 May 2019 in Nur-Sultan, the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Astana Economic Forum is a significant forum that has convened annually in Nur-Sultan gathering delegates including political leaders, prominent policy and decision makers, key business people and experts to discuss pressing economic challenges. 

On this occasion, Dr. Vallop Suwandee has delivered a speech at the GLOBAL SILK ROAD – MAYORS’ FORUM on the topic of “Joint efforts in the formation of the Silk Road Transport and Logistics Hub” showcasing the planned transportation network in Bangkok and Thailand, a TOD development plan around the Bang Sue Grand Station project, as well as the Public – Private Partnership (PPP) as an economic model applied for a mega project investment.

In addition, BMA representatives, together with H.E.Mr. Russ Jalichandra, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Kazakhstan had called on Mr. Erlan Kanalimov, Deputy Mayor of Nur-Sultan and H.E.Ms. Raushan Yesbulatova, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Thailand. Dr. Suwandee took this opportunity to invite the Mayor of Nur-Sultan to participate in the Sister Cities Week 2019 which will be held in Bangkok from 27 June – 1 July 2019.  The two sides also discussed cooperation among both parties particularly the celebration of the15th Anniversary of Sister City Relations between Bangkok and Nur-Sultan.
