Primary tabs

Mr. Kriangyos Sudlabha, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, along with Mr. Attaseth Petmeesri, Advisor to Governor of Bangkok, and Mrs. Anusara Chuensuang, Deputy Director-General of Strategy and Evaluation Department, visited Chengdu, People’s Republic of China, during 10 – 14 June 2019.

On behalf of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), the delegation attended the 2019 Innovation Forum for Mayors of International Sister Cities of Chengdu, which was held under the theme of New Economy, New Ecosystem and New Business Environment.

The Forum was also joined by leaders and administrators of Chengdu Municipal People’s Government, representatives of foreign embassies and consulates, representatives of ministries and government agencies of China, as well as representatives of academic institutes, international organizations, and trade & investment promotion agencies.

On this occasion, the Deputy Governor of Bangkok joined the discussion and policy exchanges on innovation, economy and investment promotion on city level.

Moreover, the BMA delegates attended the opening ceremony of 2019 Chengdu Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair as honorary guests of the event. Later, they visited Chengdu Planning Exhibition Hall to study a great history and systematic city planning policy of Chengdu, and traveled to University of Electronic and Scientific Technology of China (UESTC) to observe the promotion of innovation among its students and the operation of the Research Institute at the Start-up Hub.

Before heading back to Bangkok, the delegation had a technical field visit on Chengdu’s strategies for PM2.5 and PM10 dust particles, especially those originated from construction site. In order to limit dust particles, many measures have been put into enforcement, such as spraying water for a full-site coverage, covering all ground exposures to prevent dust diffusion, washing vehicles entering and leaving the site with high pressure water jet cleaners.

Besides, Chengdu is a part of nationwide dust particle monitoring system, which shows the amount of dust particles according to their different origins via an application. The Government will be alerted when dust particles exceed the designated limit, then the responsible party will receive financial penalty and rating point reduction as punishments. These measures have been effective so far.

The visit was an exchange in accordance with the MoU on the Establishment of Friendship City Relations between Bangkok and Chengdu signed on 10 May 2017. Since 2016, both cities have been continuously conducting cooperation and exchanges on human research development, IT, youth activities, and foreign affairs.
