Sister Cities Week 2019" Press Conference

The BMA invites Bangkokians and public to “Sister Cities Week 2019” to experience over 30 cultural performances from Bangkok’s sister cities, get to know them in Sister City Exhibition, and browse variations of Bangkok Brand local products. 

25 June 2019 – On behalf of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Kriangyos Sudlabha, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, held a press conference launching “Sister Cities Week 2019,” hosted by the BMA on 28 – 29 June 2019 at Bangkok Art & Culture Centre. Out of 36 Bangkok’s sister cities, over 180 delegates from 18 sister cities of Bangkok has confirmed their participation, bringing over 30 cultural performances from Beijing, Chaozhou, Dalian, Tianjin, Shandong Province, Daegu, Jakarta, Nur-Sultan, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Fukuoka Prefecture, Porto. 

Aside from the main objective of strengthening relations between Bangkok and its sister cities, the BMA hopes to promote people-to-people activities and build a platform to for each city’s culture promotion through cultural performances. The MoUs on specific area of cooperation with Daegu on tourism, and Jakarta on education, are also being signed during the event to encourage cooperation among working-level officials, and to expand the BMA’s role on international level as the Vibrant of Asia within 2032 according to The 20-Year Development Plan for Bangkok Metropolis.

Sister City Exhibition also features photo displays from Bangkok’s sister cities, details about sister cities and their cooperation and exchanges with the BMA. 

Rounding up the event is BMA’s very own Bangkok Brand stalls, emphasizing the promoting local entrepreneurs and boosting city economy.
